33 weeks

from babycenter.com

This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

This entry was written last week, but never posted... my baby brain is to blame.
<begin complaining> Besides the back pain, late night heartburn, frequent bathroom trips while sleepwalking, extreme fatigue and tiredness, lack of motivation, memory less and ever growing belly, I've been doing pretty good. <end complaining>
I suppose things could be worse, but boy am I getting uncomfortable. We still have some time left so I need to make the best out of it. "The turkey is almost done", as Rich likes to say because my belly button is almost fully protruding.

This week we attended another class offered by Orlando Health-- "Basic Infant Care" which covered everything from crying, sleeping, clothing, burping, bottle feeding, cord and circumcision care, etc. I don't recall if I mentioned this before, but last week we attended a breastfeeding class also. Since we paid for lamaze class all of these others fall under the tuition which really is a great thing. The classes offered are all held by nurses specific to the topic, most of which are labor and delivery nurses at Winnie Palmer. I think we're done with the schooling now. I personally feel everything will come natural to us and anything we're unsure about, I know we have family and professional experts to turn to.

The Condon household is all set and ready for baby Spencer. We have the nursery fully complete and all other essentials in our possession and assembled. The mobile and canvas finally showed up early last week. I must admit that both were well worth the wait. I am extremely pleased with the outcome. The detail of the mobile is amazing.
All of Spencer's clothing up to 3 months has been washed, folded and put away. I kept forgetting to put the correct detergent into the washer machine, so I ended up having the wash the same things a couple different times. This is going to take some getting used to. I understand that some babies are not able to handle the fragrance within regular detergents. Some may even break out from it so you're supposed to use a fragrance free detergent. Dreft is the biggest one on the market, but so it's price. Luckily, we were able to find the brand "All" in a fragrance free. Quite a difference in price so this is our winner.

This Friday is a big day for us. We have another doctors appointment which begins our weekly check-ups. If we're still measuring big, an ultrasound will be ordered to see how little man is doing in there. We REALLY want to see him again ;o) Maybe if I just stuff my face all week I can gain some poundage.
After our early appointment, we're heading to Portofino Bay out at Universal for our Condon Family Staycation. We're hoping for nice weather because the plan is to soak up the sun by their pool all day, then we have dinner reservations that night at their signature Italian restaurant. We'll be staying over for the night. Saturday we'll indulge in a hearty breakfast followed by more pool time if the weather permits. Rich and I are so looking forward to just relaxing as the past few months have been extremely busy. Prepping for a baby is not easy, but the excitement makes it all worth it.

Here is my 33.5 week belly pic. We were at Clearwater beach for Rania's birthday celebration. What a perfect beach day we had!

 and finally some nursery pics:

  1. The nursery is just beautiful! So calm & peaceful. We stayed @ the Portofino for my 40th (oh so long ago) & ate at that place. It was fantastic. Very smart of you to take time out to relax before your life changes. You look beautiful!

  2. Lisa is right--the nursery is wonderful! You indeed have lots of family with experience. I suspect every now and again when your belly is feeling huge you wonder how I carried two in there. Me too!
