14 weeks

from babycenter.com

This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.

In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

The weeks are starting to get a little better. I'm FINALLY able to control my hunger and am actually starting to like healthy foods again. Whereas, before it wasn't even a thought in my mind. I can't say that my energy level is back to normal yet. My sleeping continually gets interrupted by either having to use the bathroom or mainly from tossing and turning because I can not get comfortable. It's become annoying because I'm usually quite the heavy sleeper. Maybe this pregnancy thing really does prepare you for what's to come. I'm still in bed by 9ish and am not able to wake up until it's time to check in at the office which is a few minutes before 8 a.m. It's a great thing to be able to work from home. I'm not sure how I would be managing having to go in each day and the stress of having to pick out something to wear, especially since my clothing department has become slim pickings. Needless to say, if anyone ever hears me complain about work please just slap me because I really do have the best gig.

This time next week Rich and I will be driving to our next ultrasound. We'll be heading to an imaging facility in Ocoee that specializes in the 3d/4d ultrasounds as well as determining the gender as early as 15 weeks. If Baby C cooperates we should walk out of there knowing the sex of him or her. Crazy right?! I know it would be a lot of fun to not find out, but the anticipation would truly kill me. I'll be honest, I can't wait to know so we can begin to fill up our child's closet with the cutest clothes, shoes, hats, you name it. Rich and my clothing, shoe and accessory collection is really sickening between the two of us. What makes you think our kid is going to be any different?! ;o)

Until next week... hoping to have HUGE news for you to read and see. xoxo
