30 weeks

from babycenter.com

Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. His eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after he's born, he'll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means he can only make out objects a few inches from his face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)

I decided to forego the cabbage picture and post what little man currently looks like inside of me. I find it all so fascinating! Can you believe he is about 3 pounds now and is almost that long?!? It's no wonder I feel him kicking and moving simultaneously from side to side. This boy has been puttin' a hurtin' on me with his kicks and jabs. Last night I swore "something" was pressed up against my heart or lungs because my breath was taken away from me with strange pressure in the middle of my chest. The poor thing is running out of space in there.

This past week has been a little difficult on me. I've been extremely fatigued and lack motivation to do anything. Making dinner has become a chore so this week, poor Richie has had to bear a couple of frozen pizzas and other easy meals. I sure hope my laziness doesn't get much worse.
Heartburn is my newest ailment. I have never experienced this before and thank goodness for that. It has been waking me up in the middle of the night and the burning is so terrible that I am unable to fall back asleep. When I visited my ob this week, she advised that Zantac 75 is perfectly safe to take. I must admit that it has helped almost immediately after taking. I'm usually not one for taking medication, but at this point I'm relying on it.

On another note, my baby daddy celebrated his 32nd birthday last Friday. Wow, I can't believe he's 32 already. I met the youngin' when he was 26. Ahhh, those were the days ;o) I'm kidding. Actually, these are the days! We have so much to look forward to and that just continues to be the case. I love our life!
We usually gather a group of friends and have dinner to celebrate our birthdays, but this year with all that is going on, we decided to give them this year off. Instead we had a lovely dinner, just the two of us, at Ceviche downtown. We ordered a ton of tapas to share and had a piece of chocolate cake for dessert that was as big as Rich's head. Believe it or not, he was the one that ate the majority of it.
Friday night, his actual birthday, we had dinner at home. Delila and I surprised him with a huge candle lit red velvet cupcake. He's already sweet enough, but I suppose the extra sugar couldn't hurt ;o)
Early Saturday morning we drove over to New Smyrna Beach to spend the night. Rich and I spent a few hours down at the beach together. The weather was absolutely perfect for us. Since it's still technically winter here, the beach was wide open with not very many visitors around. I guess you could say we got our "base coat" for the season. After our beach day, Maureen was sweet enough to treat us to a delicious Mexican lunch. Following our lunch, was a much needed nap. I swear, it is way too easy to doze off over there. I'm not sure how Cork and Sandra ever get anything done.
That night, grill-master Corky was on deck and he of course didn't let us down. We feasted on filet mignon, baked potatoes, asparagus, bearnaise sauce, and salad. Talk about needing another nap! Overall, I think Rich had a nice birthday weekend. He and his dad closed it out with a game of golf on Sunday.

I didn't take a belly pic this week, but I will share with you my 29 week beach babe pin-up. Hahaa, NOT!

and here's the happy 32 year old on a beautiful Saturday:

  1. Think about the fact that babies can survive @ 3lbs-makes it really real! When I had Amanda the dr said "someone has been sunbathing in a bikini"!! I bet Mo could whip you up some meals as well as Gail-don't be shy about asking for help! If you need any help around the house (I'm an excellent worker!) don't hesitate to call. Can't wait for the shower.

  2. Sounds like a perfect birthday weekend. Peppermint works really well for heartburn--think Altoids if you want to avoid the medication. Sweet, sweet pictures. :) Won't be long now!
